January Task: Digging Treasureby ~Tyltalis

Opal heard about the useful battle items that could be found in a treasure chest, so she went to do the task for Nugget. Looks like she learned from Anther that you can use Nature Power to dig stuff up, too! She chose the Magic Paint as a reward, because it seemed to have the most potential. Opal is pretty satisfied with her own moveset at the moment, but maybe someone else in the team will have use for it at some point...

I wanted to do some inking for a change! It's sort of rushed, but I think it came out okay.

You're good at inking! This came out well.

You did a good job of adding lots of nice detail while keeping every element pretty distinct. I like the way you portrayed the Corsola's attack. And the non-rectangular margins of the inking looks very appealing, too.

Oh woah! That turned out great! Was it using pen alone or did you use digital media only? Either way it seems to be a really long process!

Thanks! I just used pretty basic markers here, the same that I use to ink the lines in comics. I don't think it took that long, to be honest. Coloring things with colored pencils takes at least as much time I think.

Oh, I see! Well, now that I consider it that way, I can see how it can take just as much time. I was never someone patient with coloured pencils and never was able to do something decent with them

I guess that that's what was missing; some patience to apply the right pressure in the right direction.

Yeah, the thing with colored pencils is that you can't make it look good if you rush it. With any kind of paint or digital art it's easier to make good-looking art pretty fast if you know what you're doing, but with pencils you have to be patient. It can be a pain if I want to color a lot of stuff, like comic panels.
